elctroliquid aggregation

From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free. Buoyed by —water, he can fly in any direction—up, down, sideways—by merely flipping his hand. Under water, man becomes an archangel.

My dynamite will sooner lead to peace than a thousand world conventions. As soon as men will find that in one instant, whole armies can be utterly destroyed, they surely will abide by golden peace.

Therefore, a man must discover that which sets itself apart from a thousand world conventions and will set him free from the weight of gravity. Once he sinks beneath the surface, he will be buoyed by golden peace and he can fly in any direction.

the black box

Slide 72, Project Five: Shadow as Repitition
by Erika Kruger, Victoria University of Wellington, 2004

THE APPLICATION OF THE CONCEPT OF "SHADOW AS REPETITION" IN ERIKA KRUGER'S FIFTH PROJECT RELATES TO THE IDEAS I USED TO DEVELOP MY DESIGN FOR EXPERIMENT TWO. THESE IMAGES IN PARTICULAR STRUCK ME AS IT PORTRAYS THE DRAMATIC PLAY BETWEEN THE ARCHITECTURE ELEMENTS AND LIGHT. IT CLEARLY ILLUSTRATES HOW THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE TWO CAN CREATE EFFECTS WHICH BECOME FEATURES OF THE STRUCTURE THEMSELVES. THIS CAN BE TRANSLATED WITHIN MY MODEL THROUGH THE USE OF INTERSECTING BEAMS AND PLANES THAT STRATEGICALLY CAST SHADOWS ON INTERIOR SPACES. THE AREA WHERE THIS IS MOST VISIBLE (BOTH CONCEPTUALLY AND PHYSICALLY) WOULD BE THE MEETING PLACE BETWEEN NOBEL AND COUSTEAU. THE STARK SHADOWS AGAINST THE PATCHES OF LIGHT IN THIS SPACE REFLECTS THE TRANSITION BETWEEN INSIDE AND OUTSIDE AS WELL AS DARK AND LIGHT.
